stinky gym grannies

Well, I posted a big long thing this a.m. about my cruddy time at the gym and the old lady all dressed up to the nines for workout including a seriously nasty overdose of perfume that made me sick...blah blah blah ... only did 1.5 miles and only ran 1/4 mile.... blah blah blah... and the computer ATE it! (the post) so here I am with a quick recap of the day.
Gym sucked. Knee hurt- stinky old lady- yea, sucked.
Foods have been good - keeping on plan today and feel good about that.
Took a nap - felt grouchy, must have needed it!
Insurance poopah is going down on Chris' car - slow but sure.
Laundry pile is decreasing slow slow slow but is decreasing.
And I leave you with a super awesome photo of dearest hubby Ed in the mud on Saturday. LOOK HOW FREAKING DEEP THAT WAS!!!!!!!!!! He loved it! :O) Darla

Big Boys Little Boys - LOTS of TOYS!

Yesterday (Saturday) Ed and our buddy Blake decided they wanted to go play in the mud. Being the good Daddy's that they are, the chose to take the two little boys, Micheal (ours) and Berg (Blake's) with them. At the last minute I was invited to go too, and we had a blast! Amongst all the fun there were a couple of highlights....
ONE: the HUGE mud puddle in the middle of the riding area where Ed and Blake proceeded to bathe' one another in wet, cold, mud... and watch some trucks try to 4-dig and get stuck! ROTF
TWO: Blake was super super kind and offered to teach Micheal how to ride on his own on the mini 4-wheeler that belongs to Berg! He was IN HEAVEN I tell ya! Blake was so patient with him too - it was awesome!
THREE: I got such great photo ops all afternoon between the mud, the boys and the whole afternoon it was just cool!
So....here are the photos, ENJOY! :O) Darla
*Ed is on the blue 4wheeler in the blue/black jacket, Blake is on the red 4wheeler in the brown jacket, Micheal in the orange coat on the 'baby' 4wheeler, Berg in the yellow shirt and Micheal in the blue shirt! Just so ya know!*

Noah the lil' buggy boy!

It seems I take more photos of Noah than my own kids lately... so, here are a few new ones. He is SO freaking cute!!

Why 16 Year Old Boys Should NOT Drive Red Sports Cars

This was just a tiny part of our 'adventursome' day Saturday, sitting down to dinner with a friend and getting "the call" from Chris.... thankfully everyone is ok and hey, cars can be replaced, kids can't. (sometimes I'd LIKE to replace them....) UGH!
Darla

FYI the accident was not Chris' fault!!
Ohh and thankfully the officer thought Chris' license plates were funny! eeck!

DIVA DANI - This is for YOU

Danielle my dear daughter thinks she is fashion model material - I know this because she WILL NOT LEAVE MY CAMERA ALONE! So, Dani dear, this is ALL FOR YOU!!!!!!!!

Pushing Myself Harder

Well, it looks like my Fri morning weigh in is going to be even stevens. Maybe I'll luck out and lose a few ounces, but as of now, I am going to be lucky lucky to just maintain where I was last week. Bummer. I worked really hard this week physically and although I had a few foods mishaps I was really pretty good.
My biggest bummer is that I really wanted to be back down to that 50 lb mark by this weigh in. I promised myself I'd be there by the end of March - I guess then technically I have till' Monday?? ugh. So flustering.
I suppose this means it is time to kick my workouts up a notch? I need to be much more consistant with my weights - I really do not like doing the strength training AT ALL so that is one issue. I also think I need to push the ellyptical a lot more. Time constraints are a big problem, as I go in the mornings and if the baby's Mom is late that throws me into crunch time plus having to be home in time to let our friend get to work (who watches hime while I go) leaves me tight too.
I wish I could get more time in but that just does not work. Daytime is no-go because I have the baby here - maybe I'll have to start doing a home video workout or something? Evenings don't really work either bc I have dinner to do and that is my only time with hubby. SO! Any suggestions would be great!
I just really want to do this and do it right -

Have a good day - be kind to yourself!

Rockin' Tuesday To You!

Having a FAB Tuesday here thus far.... got a good 2 miles in at the gym with 3/4 mile of running (intervals) and will have to build back up to that 1/2 mile run I did last Friday! After that I did a walk around Loop 2 (photo) of our greenbelt which is another 2.34 miles! My sister Lisa and I went at 6:30 this morning for that! We also ran about a 1/4 mile in that process as well so all in all I ran about 1 mile and did a total of almost 4.5 miles this a.m.! WHOO WHOO! Feels good!

Today is house and kids. Getting ready for Dani's b-day party tonight - lots of noisy silly 14 yr old girls - AH THE JOY! (NOT!) Hope it is a good one for her!!

OK off I go, shower for me, dirty dishes in the skink and laundry all call....

HALF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is all about HALF things!
I am almost to 1/2 of my weightloss goal.
I am 1/2 asleep still this morning.
and most importantly .........

I RAN A FREAKING 1/2 MILE STRAIGHT THIS MORNING!!!!!!!!!!

I have been busting my BUTT for weeks working up to this and finally just got myself "there" mentally. The weirdest part was when I was wanting to give up and my brain was rationalizing with my body and my body just sort of "took over" and then next thing I knew I was PAST the 1/2 mile mark! INSANE!
So, there I was, sweating profusly on the treadmill, huffin' and puffin' and BAWLING like a baby! LOLOL I was so angry and proud and happy and frustrated all right there and then that my emotions just came over me. I am such a freak!
Our kids Pediatric Dr goes to the gym in the mornings and he was there, he wanted to know if I was OK and I started laughing my head off - told him why I was boobing and he laughed and gave me his normal wink and thumbs up (daily thing with him) and then, I was fine. When I got all done I called my sister Lisa to "report" to her and lo and behold, I was bawling again! LOLOL I truly am a dork.

...but... I am a DORK who can RUN A HALF MILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also I am down a bit on my weight for this week so that rocks too! Going to be going out of town tonight/tommorrow and will be home Sat night. Have a great Holiday weekend! Don't eat too many PEEPS!

The Famous Miss TIffany!

And for those of you who'd like to view one of her TWO speaking parts and a bit of singing - you can go look here:

A super star! A falling star! A track star!

OK so, lots to share with you today. So giddy and happy and in such a good mood! Going to be a great day and an even better weekend!!!

Yesterday afternoon I biffed it. Tripped over the baby gate (with the help of our dumb dog) and fell flat on my face. Didn't catch myself at all with my hands, took the brunt of it on both knees - gate came down with me - ouch. It hurt a lot. Today my knees aren't as bad as I thought they might be, but I am finding bumps and bruises all over the place. ICK!

Despite my little trip...ha ha... I went to the gym this a.m. determined to run anyway. AND I DID! I was sooooooo close to hitting that 1/2 mile run I about died! I was crunched for time though so I had to do a short workout but I did run over 1/2 of a mile out of 1.5 miles and again, the one run was sooooo close to being 1/2 straight! Tommorrow I am GOING FOR IT BIG TIME! :O) Yeahh! Also tommorrow is my weekly weigh in and I need a good number - send me wishes please!

And last but not least, last night was our younger daughter Tiffany's big program. The entire school district 5th grade classes do a Patriotic program each year. Each school chooses one student to represent them for narrating.... Tiff was chosen out of THREE 5th grade classes at our school! She was SO cute and the program was fun and entertaining! We got to sit with Robin (ribinscraps) and her son Taylor, her older son, Chris was in the program as well... we had a great time! Sharing a few photos of us all... what a blast. So, there is a photo of Tiff and Chris all dressed up fancy for the program then a couple of us Mom's with the kids, even Robin's lil' guy Taylor "snuck" in backwards on one of them! LOLOL Goofy boy! (Robin, I'll email the photos to you when I have a sec)

Hope your all having a great day. It is raining and dreary here but it is not snowing so I am happy! :O)

It is ALMOST Friday people! I can't wait! I am headed to Twin Falls Friday afternoon with my friend Lisa and her daughter for a gym meet - we'll be staying at my sister Carlee's house and since she is doing the health/fitness and WW with me we are going to kick some skinny sister butt!
Blessings to ya!

I am afraid of THIS

So... to keep it short. My sisters want to "celebrate" our newfound health and fitness by taking an overnight camp/hike to a place called "4th of July Lake" which is near Stanley ID - ok, cool. Three crazy girls hiking it out and being rough and tough - no problem. Ohhhhhhh problem. Bears. There are very likely bears in this area and I have a big big big fat scary issue with them. I am scared Sh#tless at this point and we have not even chosen a date to go do this???????????? EECK! Does this guy not look like he is thinkin' "...hmmmm three short chunky white bodies of fleshy meat - what a morsely lil' snack!" yeah, you KNOW that is what he is thinkin' don't deny it!!!!!!!

:O( Can't we just hike up the main street here in Idaho Falls or something? Geesh!

Hi de ho neighbor!

Well, another day gone. Whew. This week is dragging......too much to do, too much not done. Ya know the drill...? right?

Missed my workout this a.m. due to an irregular schedule and although that sucks, it was probably a good thing too. I worked out so hard on Sat and Sun and then Mon I was worn down and had a hard time running so hopefully a day off will (and has) rejuvinated me! I plan a kick butt workout in the morning (Wed) and also plan to really push myself to the max the next few days. I have my weigh in on Friday and also am going to visit my sister Carlee this weekend and she has a 80 minute walk/run planned for us too! EEECK! I am anxious and scared all in one! LOL I can do it though! I know I can!

Today was crazy, running errands, went to lunch with my bf Lisa, watched dd Dani's track practice for a bit, all kinds of fun stuff. No baby today, his momma was home sick. Hope she feels better tommorrow. :O(

Wanted to leave ya with some photos of the kids....just for fun. :O) Chris the big poker champ, Dani the diva-wanna-be, Tiff and her new "do", and lil' Micheal snuggling his Webkinz pup!

Make it a good one, be good and be healthy!

SO not me ......

Found this fun name game thing on my friend Cynthia's Blog ... the site is blogthings.com and although usually these sorts of deals are right on with me, most of this one could not be further from the truth. I DO like to be organized, true, and I am pretty lighthearted and accepting, but dominant personality? Aggressive? Authoritative? ....um, well, you read it and tell me!? Darla

What DARLA Means

You are balanced, orderly, and organized. You like your ducks in a row.
You are powerful and competent, especially in the workplace.
People can see you as stubborn and headstrong. You definitely have a dominant personality.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.
You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.
You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.
You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.
Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

Whew! The weekend is over.

What a long long week last week was and now the weekend is over and I am ready for a break! LOL Go figure egh?
We stayed busy all weekend, but had some fun too. Several dates out and lots of fun with the kids and stuff.
This week should be fairly smooth but we'll see.... it never stays that way for long! Then next week is Spring Break so - yea, I'll need to prepare myself for that too!

Today I had a good 3 mile workout - including one mile of running in there (at intervals) and feel really good. I stuck to my food plan really well today which is good since Fri and Sat were not so great. I am ready for the week ahead, I seem to do so much better on weekdays.

OK have a great night and hope your upcoming week is a good one!

who said stay at home moms stay home?

seriously!
LOL I was out at the ER till' nearly midnight last night with dd Dani - she has a cold, and that combined with her track starting practice this week have caused a major flair up in the asthma and well, yea, we spent a couple of hours in the ER
She is doing much better now, home from school, but alot better.
THEN this morning as I was leaving to go pick up an Rx for Dani, the school called saying Tiffany had fallen on the ice and hit her elbow and her head. So I changed up my direction, went and took care of that (she is fine too) and finally got to the store to pick up the meds.
all this in less than 12 hrs time folks. so again I ask : who said that stay at home mom's stay home? LOL we should be re-named taxi-mom's. seriously!

Anyway, even with all the hoopla, I made it to the gym this a.m. Busted some numbers and did 1.5 laps in running and the rest walking. I am getting there folks! I am trying to come up with a plan to boost up to 16 or so miles per week, totally doable but need to plan it out and commit myself to it for sure. I think I can do it, so does my sister and my neighbor friend, but a really close freind seems doubtful... which sort of bums me out but that is OK - I'll just have to show them all I can do it! :O)

The big news is that I am only a mere' SIX lbs from hitting my 50 lb loss again! I can't wait! I am back into my smallest jeans again and some of the womens regular XL shirts I got last summer - wheeee! I am almost there again! I am so ready to start workin' towards 60 now! :O)

Plans for today - cleaning, laundry, was thinking of mopping the floors but it is snowing AGAIN and the dogs/kids just will track wet muddy crap in so that is a no go. Maybe I can squeeze in a nap somewhere too. Hmmmmm?!

OK folks! Make it a great day!

numbers........it is all about the numbers....

weigh ins
minutes run
distance walked
calories burned
fat content
scales
how many reps
food points

my life has turned into numbers. LOL

So, I am happy to report a killer workout this a.m. Not only did I do my mile and ran 1.5 laps of that, I also got on the ellyptical machine and worked myself hard. I also did the weights as well! I have been tracking my progress and discovered that in Nov, Dec, Jan, and Feb I ran/walked a total of about 11-16 miles for the month. So far for March I have walked and ran for 10 out of 12 days and have already exceeded 16 miles!!! How kickin' cool is that?! I hope to be to 30 or more by the end of the month. I also am thinking of kicking my Sat workouts up to 5 miles and trying to do 2 miles a day during the week! We'll see what happens with that. I have been reading up on helpful hints with running and one thing I have seen over and over is that if you don't do a minimum of 20 miles a week you will NEVER get to any kind of 5K or 10K run - so that is part of my push for more miles per day. I also need to be sure I am remembering to incorperate the ellyptical and weights more regularly too.

And that is that!

(our oldest boy Chris with lil' Noah, the baby I watch during the week since he was newborn- and cousin Brandon in the one photo too)

** I have to add too, just today, after I posted this, Chris came home and was holding Noah and he fell asleep in his arms so they snuggled down on the couch and he slept on Chris' chest for over an hour! sooo sweet! **

I love my shoes

I love my shoes. The ones I go for Christmas via the Mother and Father In Law. (long story) They are good, fun, and CUTE, pink shoes. They make my running 100x easier and feel so good on my feet. I just wanted to share how thankful I am for my shoes.

Monday. Not ready for the week ahead but guess it is too late for that egh? I am sure I'll survive. Just a long and busy weekend, not very "restful" at all. Lots to do this week, so I'll just have to tough it out.
Had a quick but good workout this a.m. Did my walk/run thing - 30 minutes, 1.61 miles, 8 min of running. I am still really hurting from yesterdays' attempt at running outdoors. REALLY hard on my ol' legs there.

Hope you have a good week!
Darla

**Edited**
Just got home from the chiropractor - OMGosh I am happy! My left side was so out of alignment! My left hip and knee were jammed up so bad I was off by over an inch and a half from the right side! He thinks my running will be a trillion times easier now! YEAHH! He also encouraged me to keep running but to listen to my body and not beat it up too bad! LOL Oh I feel so much better!!!! :O)
Over and Out!

End of the week!

Well, yesterday my blog went de-funk on me so I lost my huge post.... sorry. I guess I'll try to condense it all for you!

Sat- had a FAB run/walk workout! I did a repeat of last Sat - did 3 miles, increased my speed a bit, took one minute off my time and added one minute to the running time making it a total of a 54 min workout with 16 min of that running. I really wanted to get in 20 min of running but I had some leg cramps and didn't want to push too hard. It was an awesome workout anyway! I am really coming along!
Then last night we went to a dinner party for my bil who is retiring... very nice, fancy dinner. LOTS of good foods, and I did pretty good! I planned for it so that helped! I only had a few small treats later in the evening so I feel ok with that.

Sun- got home wayyyy too late last night, totally pooped and with the time change my body is freaking out! Only going to a little part of Church and going to spend the day cleaning and doing stuff here at home. HOPE to get over to the HS track today with Tiffany and do some walk/running if I can. Going to work on food plans too for the week so I can be on track. I could SO deal with another 5 1/2 lb weight loss! This week was awesome! I was really proud of myself for doing so well!

OK off I go!
Have a GREAT Sunday and hope your upcoming week is good too!
Darla

**EDITED**
Just got home from the HS track. It sucked. Still frozen and too hard to run, I tried, it was a measly effort bc it was killing my legs the impact was so hard. I am really dissapointed in myself and the whole idea. :O( I did do a mile though, so at least I went, right?

OK THIS IS SO COOL!

Way cool site, http://www.flatbellydiet.prevention.com/default.asp does a virtual "slim" on you.... here are my before and after photos, the before is when I was down exactly 50 lbs.... the after is when I'll be down another 50 lbs! Talk about MOTIVATION baby!
